“After checking out of Hazuna Hakona Miyanoshita, Liza and Carl headed to Hakone station to take the bullet train to Kyoto — usually about a two and a half hour ride. Then disaster struck - a typhoon had swept through the region, and all bullet trains were suspended. They ended up waiting at the station for hours, unsure when they’d be able to board. Announcements echoed overhead, staff rushed in every direction, and the usual rhythm of trains had vanished entirely.
