In 2028, Papua New Guinea will field its own professional team in the National Rugby League, becoming the first sovereign Pacific nation to do so. � NRL PNG This decision was officially confirmed on 12 December 2024, when the governments of Australia and Papua New Guinea, together with the Australian Rugby League Commission, signed a landmark agreement. Under the AU$600 million Pacific
