Sarah dragged herself aside, barely clearing the space as the wolf lunged forward. Jessie stepped back, raising the gun again—but this time the wolf was closer. Too close. He fired again. The shot hit. The wolf jerked sharply, stumbling mid-lunge, its momentum breaking as it collapsed against the stone floor. A low, strained sound came from it—but it didn’t get back up. Silence. Heavy. Still.
