Switches and Sockets Switches and sockets are what we use every day. A switch controls the flow of electricity to a light. When you flip the switch up, it connects the circuit and the light turns on. When you flip it down, it breaks the circuit and the light turns off. A socket gives us a place to connect our devices. It has holes for the plug. The plug connects the device to the electricity.
