UNIT 7: TRANSISTORS AND AMPLIFIERS INTRODUCTION A transistor is a three-terminal device that can amplify signals or act as a switch. Transistors are the building blocks of modern electronics. They are found in computers, phones, and amplifiers. STORY 1: Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJT) A bipolar junction transistor has three layers: emitter, base, and collector.
