That is a thoughtful question. When I decided to travel to France, it was not because I felt fearless—it was because I refused to let “no” be the final answer. Every flight school in the United States turned me away because I was a Black woman. Instead of giving up, I asked myself, “What is another way?” I studied French, saved my money, and accepted help from supporters who believed in my dream. What gave me courage was knowing that if I succeeded, I could open doors for others who looked like
