What is a karyotype?
Organized visual display of all the chromosomes in a cell.
How are karyotypes created?
Isolated somatic cells simulate mitosis and grow before being arrested in metaphase when they are most highly condensed.
What are homologous chromosomes?
Pair of chromosomes (one from each parent) similar in length and have the same genes in the same locations, but can contain different versions of the gene.
