Once there was a bird. It was an utterly foolish bird. It sang songs, but did not read the scriptures. It flew and jumped about freely, but had no sense of etiquette or custom. The King heard about this bird and declared, “Such birds are of no use at all! They only eat the fruits in the orchards, causing the royal fruit-market to run at a loss.” He called his minister and commanded, “Educate this bird!” The responsibility of educating the bird fell upon the King’s nephew. The royal pundits (scho
