UNIT 5: INDUCTORS AND INDUCTANCE INTRODUCTION An inductor is a coil of wire. It stores energy in a magnetic field. Inductors are used in filters, transformers, and power supplies. Inductance is measured in henries (H). STORY 1: How an Inductor Works When current flows through a coil, it creates a magnetic field. The magnetic field stores energy. If the current changes, the magnetic field changes. This creates a voltage that opposes the change. This property is called inductance. Inductors re
