It was a widely played sport But there was another sport Rugby football, named after a boarding school and it allowed the players to carry and run with the ball to advance it toward the goal. Fast forward to 1880's when some people in oxford university distinguished between the sport as rugger(rugby football) and asoccer(association football) later
