Imagine you’re looking up at the night sky and you spot one of the brightest stars out there: Betelgeuse. This red supergiant is part of the Orion constellation and sits about 600 light-years away from you. But here’s the fascinating part: Betelgeuse is nearing the end of its life. It’s enormous—so big that if it replaced our Sun, it would stretch all the way out to Jupiter’s orbit. Its surface is relatively cool, which is why it glows with a reddish color. But inside, an intense battle is happ
