April 24th, 2027. My truck squeaks to a stop at Acoma National Park in northern West Virginia. I jump out and grab my hiking gear excitedly. I’ve got a four-day solo hike ahead of me, and I couldn’t be happier. I do this every so often to clear my head—away from work, family drama, and all the other bullshit of day-to-day life. I grab my pack, lace up my boots, and hit the trail around 9 a.m. The woods are calm, quiet, peaceful. The wind bristles through the trees, birds chirp and scatter as I p
