French sentence structure
In French, sentences usually follow a clear order similar to English.
Subject + Verb + Complement
Je mange une pomme
I eat an apple
Il parle français
He speaks French
Nous habitons à Paris
We live in Paris
“MAIS”
change inside meaning
BUT
It’s good
It’s good, but not perfect or something changes
“Mais” changes the direction of the sentence by introducing contrast.
When you hear “mais”, the important idea often comes after it.
