Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1957 His father, Claude Wagner, was a judge, lawyer, and politcian He studied law and political science at the University of Ottawa He worked as a lawyer in Quebec for many years He became a judge on the Quebec Superior Court in 2004 He joined the Quebec Court of Appeal in 2011 He was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada in 2012 He became Chief Justice of Canada in 2017
