The Call I Shouldn’t Have Answered At exactly 3:03 AM… my phone rang. Unknown number. I stared at it, half asleep. Who calls at 3 AM? It stopped. I put my phone down… Then— it rang again. Same number. I don’t know why… but this time, I answered. “Hello?” Nothing. Just static. I was about to hang up— when I heard it. Breathing. Slow… uneven… right into the mic. I froze. “Who is this?” I asked. The breathing stopped. Completely. Then— a voice. My voice. “Don’t hang up.
