I think people do not necessarily have to attend live events. Many people are very busy with work or school, so it can be difficult to find time to go to events. In addition, attending an event can sometimes be tiring because people need to travel and spend several hours there. Watching recordings or online streams can be a more convenient option. For these reasons, I think both options are acceptable depending on people’s schedules.
