The wolf moved. Jessie fired. The shot exploded through the cave, deafening in the enclosed space. The bullet struck just behind the wolf, sending stone and dust bursting into the air. The wolf recoiled instantly, startled, twisting away from the noise. But it didn’t run. Not yet. It turned again—this time toward Jessie. And charged. “Move!” Jessie shouted.
