The engine answered with another rough sound. Then another—heavier, more uncontrolled. Passengers were now standing, watching closely. Captain Harris tightened his grip slightly. A loud bang came from below deck. Everything stopped instantly. The engine cut out completely. Silence filled the boat. It slowed quickly, drifting on momentum alone. He tried the ignition—nothing. He tried again—still nothing.
