You and a buddy are at 12 metres/40 feet in a free descent without reference to 18 metres/60 feet. The visibility is 5 metres/15 feet, so you can’t see the bottom or the surface. You notice the following happening at the same time: Your buddy waves to get your attention. You realize you’ve lost too much buoyancy and are beginning to descend out of control.
