Pāhonoa te oro

When people think of Muslim-majority countries, they often think of places like Saudi Arabia. But the country with the largest Muslim population is actually Indonesia. What’s interesting is how it became Muslim. Around the 13th century, Islam spread there mainly through trade. Muslim merchants traveling through Southeast Asia and the Strait of Malacca traded with local communities, and over time their beliefs spread through everyday contact and cultural exchange.
