The whistle screamed closer. Sarah pulled Jesse forward. “Don’t stop!” They ran into the trees, branches whipping past, the ground uneven. “Sarah—!” Jesse tried to look back. “Don’t look!” The forest lit up. BOOM. The ground shook violently, throwing them forward. Sarah hit the ground, ears ringing, vision blurred.
