You've seen the paintings. Twelve men gathered around Jesus. Calm faces. Peaceful expressions. Almost glowing with holiness. They look like men who were born righteous. But Scripture tells a far more surprising story. The twelve disciples were not a spiritual dream team — not the most polished, most educated, or most qualified men in Israel. They were ordinary men.
