Chapter 1: Before the Fall Selena sat by the window, her shoulder resting lightly against the side of the plane as it hummed steadily through the sky. A book rested open in her hands. She wasn’t rushing through it, just reading slowly, staying focused on something simple and normal. Outside, clouds stretched endlessly, soft and calm, almost too calm.
