Isagani lies on a floating wooden plank, holding onto it as the waves carry him across the wide, restless sea. The water moves him up and down in a slow, endless motion. The wind pushes gently, but the ocean never stops shifting. He feels very small in the middle of the endless blue water. Everything around him looks far and wide, with no clear direction. He looks up at the sky and stays quiet. In his heart, he hopes that somewhere ahead, there is land waiting for him.
