The second agent is our friends and peer group. As we grow older, friends start to influence how we spend money. Sometimes there is peer pressure — for example, buying costly clothes or phones just to fit in with the group. But friends can also help us in positive ways. They can encourage us to save together for a trip, or to start investing. So friends affect our money habits in both positive and negative ways.
