One of the most interesting things about the presidency is that much of the President’s power is not written directly into the Constitution. The Constitution actually gives the President fewer explicit powers than many people expect. Instead, much of presidential influence has grown over time. This means the presidency today looks very different from what the Founders originally imagined. In the early years of the United States, the federal government itself was relatively small, and the Preside
