After many long hours on the tossing sea, Isagani finally sees land. A mysterious island rises before him, dark and strange against the horizon. He drifts slowly toward the shore, his body heavy with exhaustion. Every muscle aches, and his spirit feels weak. He sinks onto the sand, staring at the island with a mixture of awe… and hopelessness.
