I didn’t reply. I couldn’t. My hands were shaking too much to even type. I slowly texted him back: “What do you mean?” The typing bubble appeared instantly. Then disappeared. Then appeared again. Finally, he replied: “I can hear you walking.” I felt my stomach drop. I was still upstairs. Not moving. Not making a sound. Before I could answer, another message came through. “Stop.” I froze. My eyes were locked on my phone screen. Then— From downstairs… A loud thud. Like somethi
