Chemical Reactions of Ketones
Reduction (to secondary alcohol): Ketones can be reduced to form secondary alcohols.
Reaction with HCN (cyanohydrin formation): Ketones react with hydrogen cyanide to produce cyanohydrins.
Reaction with alcohol (hemiacetal & ketal formation): Ketones react with alcohol to form hemiacetals first, then ketals.
