Now we take a look on the Hardware and how it works. What is a NAS? NAS stands for Network Attached Storage. It is a data storage device on which all data is stored. How did we back up the data? Each NAS contains two mirrored hard drives. If one fails, the second can take over. The hardware is also mirrored, and data synchronisation takes place via the network connection on port 2. This gives us an active NAS and a passive NAS. As soon as the active NAS encounters a fault, the passive NAS takes
