Sticking bread on a metal pole during a thunderstorm sounds like a wild shortcut to toast, but it would go badly fast. The lightning would race through the pole, burn the bread almost instantly, and put you in serious danger too. The only realistic way to use lightning for toast would be to somehow store that energy safely in a huge power bank, then use it to run a toaster — enough, in theory, for more than 20,000 slices.
