"This took place about three years ago. I was driving back to my hometown to visit my parents. I grew up in a very specific, old Victorian-style house on a dead-end street. I lived there for eighteen years. I knew every crack in the driveway, every squeak in the floorboards, and exactly how many steps it took to get from the curb to the front door.
