They remove the skin from the finger before sliding it over their own hand. Then, it's pressed onto ink, giving a clear fingerprint. You see, after death, the skin can get too loose to use, so examiners just gently remove it and place it over their own gloved finger. This gives them a usable print from a decomposing corpse so they can identify the body.
