The campus trees were just beginning to grow thin green leaves, and people had started sitting outside again with coffee and laptops. I didn’t do that. I spent most of my time in my dorm room studying. My desk was pushed right up against the window. I lived on the second floor, and from there I could see the small courtyard between the dorm buildings. Studen
