Gigante In 2006, Grupo Gigante was a publicly-owned company that ran a group of multi- format retail stores. First incorporated in 1963, Gigante had 33,000 employees in 2006. The retail stores were in four formats: a hypermarket analogous to Walmex’s Supercenter (Gigante); a warehouse-style food and retail store (Bodega Gigante); a supermarket (Super Gigante); and, a hard- discount store (SuperPrecio). Each Gigante store averaged 63,000 square feet of selling space and stocked 50,000-55,000 S
