I was sitting at work, scrolling through my phone, when I saw a notification from my smart home app: “Noise detected.” I thought, weird, I’m not even home. Then another alert: “Police dispatched to your address.” Apparently, my neighbor heard “loud music” and decided it was a big enough emergency to call the police. That’s when it clicked—I remembered how she complained last week about me laughing too loudly on Zoom. Classic.
