I told myself I was done with that night. But the next morning, I woke up to a voicemail. It was from the same unknown number. Her voice sounded calm this time. Too calm. She said, “You shouldn’t have ignored me.” I stared at my phone, trying to convince myself it was just some prank. Then another voicemail came in. Same voice. But this time, it was recorded from inside my apartment. I could hear it—barely—like she was holding the phone close to something. And then she said, very quie
