Most metals fail when exposed to air. Titanium does not. Titanium is used in aircraft structures, medical implants, marine systems, chemical processing equipment, and precision engineering components. When exposed to air, its surface reacts immediately. Oxygen bonds with the outer layer and forms an extremely thin coating of titanium dioxide, TiO₂. This layer is tightly bound to the surface and does not flake off. It blocks water, oxygen, and many chemicals from reaching the metal underneath, gr
