The Royal Proclamation (1763) aimed to assimilate the French people, then living under English rule. The assimilation policies included replacing French law with English law, which probably wasn’t very popular with the Quebecois. The Royal Proclamation was issued by a King George III, who was for the most part; a complete chud. He reportedly suffered from mental health issues in his later years, also making him a schizo.
