Good afternoon. Today I will explain why people pay taxes in Canada. Taxes are mandatory payments made by individuals and businesses to federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments. These payments are required by law. The main reason Canadians pay taxes is to fund public services. Tax revenue supports healthcare, education, roads, bridges, public transportation, police services, and fire protection. Taxes also fund social programs. These include the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Se
