In Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island, a key example of the effective use of narrative is the stages of Todorov's narrative theory that are apparent in the film. One of the most notable examples is when the protagonist Teddy meets “The Real Rachel Solando” in the cave. Preceding this scene there are several “disruptions” that disorientate Teddy and leave him uneasy and paranoid about what it is that is being hidden from him that he can't figure out due to stories not adding up (Rachel Solando’s su
