Conformity is a phenomenon in which individuals alter their beliefs, attitudes, or behaviors to bring them in accordance with the behavior of others. Muzafer Sherif (1936) sought to study the possibility that even basic perceptions of events can be affected by efforts to bring one’s own perceptions in line with those of others.
