What would you do if the government paid you just 20 cents a day… to survive in the middle of nowhere? During the Great Depression, Unemployment rates reached 33%, so the Canadian government set up unemployment relief camps. These camps were located in remote areas across Canada and were meant for single, unemployed men. Men did hard labour like building roads and clearing land in exchange for shelter, basic food, and a wage of 20 cents per day. These camps were quite dangerous because of their
