UNIT 3: RESISTORS AND RESISTANCE INTRODUCTION Resistors are components that resist the flow of current. They are used to control voltage and current in circuits. Resistance is measured in ohms (Ω). STORY 1: What is a Resistor? A resistor is a small component with two wires. It is made of carbon or metal film. The resistor’s value is shown by colored bands. Each color represents a number. Engineers read these bands to know the resistance. Resistors are used everywhere: in phones, TVs, comput
