UNIT 7: THE SKIN OF THE BUILDING (external finishes) INTRODUCTION The structure and walls are the body of the building. But the outside surface, the skin, is also very important. It protects the building from weather and makes it look good. STORY 1: Brick Cladding Many buildings have a brick outer layer. But sometimes, the brick is not holding the building up. It is just a skin on the outside. This is called brick cladding. First, there is the main wall, maybe made of concrete blocks. Then, ther
