The hallway was empty. Shrugging, he went back to his room. Two minutes later, his phone buzzed. It was a text from his mom: “Jake, I’m still at the store. I’ll be home in 10 minutes.” Jake’s stomach dropped. Slowly, he looked back at his bedroom door. Then he heard it again. Knock. Knock. Knock. But this time… i
