Pāhonoa te oro

Imagine you’re looking up at the night sky and you spot one of the brightest stars out there: Betelgeuse. This red supergiant is part of the Orion constellation and sits about 600 light-years away from you. But here’s the fascinating part: Betelgeuse is nearing the end of its life. It’s enormous—so big that if it replaced our Sun, it would stretch all the way out to Jupiter’s orbit.
