Those gnomes in Gravity Falls… weren’t made up. They’re based on something much older… entities described in the 1500s… called earth dwellers. According to early writings… they don’t just live underground… they observe us. Across completely different countries… people described the same thing— small human-like figures… that try to imitate human behavior… But they always get something wrong… like they’re learning… by watching.
