Scientists have actually found 3,000-year-old honey in ancient Egyptian tombs connected to Tutankhamun… and it was still safe to eat.
So how is that possible?
First, honey has almost no water.
Bacteria and mold need water to grow, but honey only has about 17% moisture, which is way too low for microbes to survive.
Second, bees add special enzymes when they make honey.
These enzymes slowly produce tiny amounts of hydrogen peroxide, a natural antibacterial che
