Recent Korean dramas have clearly transcended old patterns. The cold, wealthy, and emotionally repressed male lead is no longer the default choice. The female lead is no longer the one bearing social pressure and adverse conditions. Instead, more diverse gender images emerge: gentle and considerate men; confident and ambitious women.
